Falling Walls Engage Hub Sweden

Science Engagement

Science engagement is practised differently in each region around the world. The Falling Walls Engage Hubs bring together science engagers from all over the world for knowledge exchange and collaborations. These international community nodes and events connect local scientific communities with international science engagement initiatives. The Falling Walls Engage Hub Sweden connects international and Nordic-Baltic science engagement and scicomm practitioners.

The aim with Hub Sweden is to connect and explore the science engagement ecosystem in Northern Europe and to exchange ideas and best practices on science engagement and scicomm with engagers globally. The network is coordinated by Vetenskap & Allmänhet (VA Public & Science), and is a part of the Falling Walls Engage international network. The Hub Sweden community is open for all scicomm practitioners and science engagers in the Nordic Baltic region; Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and Åland.

The mission is to connect people across all fields of science engagement through international exchange. Hub participants may take part in workshops and events to exchange knowledge and learn from best-practice examples. The hubs also provide the opportunity for participants to increase the visibility of their projects.

The Swedish hub will organise regular in person and online meetings. During our forthcoming events we will take a closer look at the Northern European perspective and join the global conversation on science engagement and scicomm. Members of the network will also be able to join activities and events organised by the other Falling Walls Engage international hubs as well as propose ideas for upcoming events. Forthcoming activities

  • Science engagement in Georgia 14 May – Falling Walls Engage will arrange a knowledge exchange workshop back to back to the EUSEA annual meeting in Tbilisi 15-16 May. The workshop is a collaboration with the University of Georgia and is open for scicommers and science engagers in Georgia and for those who are participating in the EUSEA annual conference. More info to follow shortly.
  • Nordic-Baltic SciComm Exchange 29 April – Join us for an informal get together, bring your coffee (or tea) and let’s share information on on-going or new inspiring scicomm or science engagement activities, studies, events, challenges or whatever you feel like talking about. The SciComm Exchanges is held without an agenda to guarantee maximum freedom of exchange. The aim is to strengthen the open exchange between Nordic-Baltic SciCommers and science engagers on a regular basis. The first SciComm Exchange will be held on 29 April at 14:30 (CEST) via Zoom. Register to join the exchange!
  • Science Communication Forum (Forum för Forskningskommunikation) November – The next event will take place in November 2024, in Stockholm and online. The aim of the conference is to provide participants with inspiration, new knowledge about tools and methods for science communication and the opportunity to network and exchange experiences with others. More information will be published closer to the conference.
  • The Falling Walls Global Call on Science engagement 2024 is now open. Don’t miss the chance to share your science communication/science engagement activity to a larger and global public. 20 ”winners” will be invited to pitch their engagement activity at the Falling Walls Engage pitch competition during Falling Walls Science Summit in Berlin in November. Register before 1 May! Find out more on the Falling Walls website.
