European Citizen Science, the ECS project, has created a network of 28 Citizen Science Ambassadors to support the activities in the project, raise awareness about citizen science, and spread and strengthen citizen science in Europe.

All of the Ambassadors (27 from each of the EU countries + one from the United Kingdom) have been selected through an open call. Public & Science’s Head of Communications, Lotta Waesterberg Tomasson, has been chosen to be the Citizen Science Ambassador for Sweden during 2024-2026.
The ECS project aims to strengthen citizen science in Europe through capacity building and increased awareness. The vision is a strong, global and inclusive community for citizen science and societal change in Europe.
As a Citizen Science Ambassador, Lotta W Tomasson will act as a local representative for the ECS project and promote citizen science in Sweden. Tasks include:
- REPRESENTING the eu-citizen.science platform nationally and promoting and expanding its content with national initiatives and resources.
- SUPPORTING citizen science actors in Sweden and helping organise activities at national and local level in collaboration with the ECS project.
- SHARING and DISSEMINATING information in Sweden about ECS project activities, events and news.
- HELPING monitor the situation of citizen science in Sweden.
