Well, here it is! The winner of the 2011 ”Dance your PhD” competion:

Congratulations go to Joel Miller, a biomedical engineer from University of Western Australia in Perth who has won the grand prize by explaining through dance (and a few subtitles) how different phases of Titanium can be made to create the perfect alloy for strong and durable joint replacements.
Mr Miller took himself and his friends to the park, and with the help of some catchy music and special effects made this extremely brilliant video which I would defy anyone not to understand.
And hats off to Mr Miller for donning lycra leggings and superman pants at the end of the film. More than I am prepared to do in the name of science.
Other winners included a film by Cedric Tan, a biologist at the University of Oxford, UK, which depicted the mating dance of the fruit fly. The male fruit flies stalk and sniff females, and choosy females prefer to mate with flies that are brothers which reduces violence between the males.
