Public involvement, co-creation, citizen science and other methods for engaging patients and the general public benefits research studies. Effective Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) takes resources – both staff time and money – and it is essential to have an adequate budget for both. In this online workshop, we discuss funding and the way to make co-created research a reality.

This is the 4th workshop in the series of Patient and Public Involvement workshops for KI researchers.
Research funders and scientific journals increasingly expect researchers to involve stakeholders in research when addressing societal challenges. Patient and public involvement (PPI) can bring new insights and perspectives to increase the societal relevance of the research, and promote the dissemination and uptake of research findings. But any research work requires funding – PPI does too.
In this online workshop, we will discuss funding for PPI. You will get to listen to a representative from The Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare (Forte) and to a researcher’s view of funding, as well as take part in group discussions. We aim to send the workshop participants off with an increased understanding of the funders’ perspectives on PPI and with ideas on how to successfully apply for funding.
All KI researchers and employees interested in the topic – with or without prior experience – are welcome to participate in this workshop and network meeting.
