Since 2009, the Falling Walls Science Summit has united the world’s greatest minds to break down barriers in science and innovation. They bring together global science leaders, business pioneers, and public sector visionaries to share knowledge, foster collaboration, and shape the future of the international innovation system—creating meaningful impact for humanity.
Public and Science Sweden will take part in this conference and our Secretary-General, Ulrika Björkstén will be part of a table briefing about Innovation Journalism on the 8th of November:
The Falling Walls Science Summit brings together leading figures from science, technology, and business to discuss groundbreaking scientific discoveries and their societal significance. One underrepresented topic, however, seems to be the transition from scientific knowledge to its economic application—“innovation.” This may represent a gap in journalism that could be addressed through “innovation journalism.”
In this context, innovation journalism should be understood as a journalistic genre that focuses on transitioning scientific and technological discoveries into practical applications and their societal impact. It combines science and business journalism elements by highlighting how new research findings and technological developments lead to economic activities. The emphasis is on analyzing how such innovations transform industries and affect people’s daily lives.
