Communicating Science in a Complex World – Experiences, Controversies and Future Strategies
How do we want to communicate research topics together strategically in the future?
Communication about socially-relevant research takes place on various levels within Europe and is shaped by different stakeholders with diverse interests. The lack of coordination between these stakeholders and their activities is accompanied by prominent cases of controversial public discourse. Genome editing is an example of a field of research that faces complex communication challenges and illustrates the need for a coordinated and strategic approach to science communication.
What successes and failures have already occured with regard to the communication of genome editing? What can be derived from these experiences for the communication of research within the life sciences in general? And how do we want to communicate research topics together strategically in the future?
