New MOOC on Soil Education – An integrated STEM approach for teachers

The EU LOESS project is excited to announce the launch of the new MOOC, developed by the partners and supported by #Scientix, titled ”Soil Education: An Integrated STEM Approach.” The course has been created to guide and help educators transform their STEM teaching by integrating soil education into their curriculum. The course, which is offered in English, runs from 3 March to 9 April 2025.

Course Highlights

Over 4 modules spanning 5.5 weeks (22 hours total), you will:

  • Explore what soil is and why it’s so important for humankind.
  • Learn innovative ways to teach about soil health from economic, societal, ethical, biological, and chemical perspectives.
  • Design a ready-to-use learning scenario to incorporate soil education into your daily teaching activities.

This free course is self-paced so that you can complete it at your convenience.  The course is organised around the principle of peer learning, with content designed to stimulate reflection and discussion so that participants can learn from each other’s experiences and ideas. To complete the course, participants are required to submit a final course product and review their peers’ work.

By the end of this MOOC, you’ll gain practical tools, resources, and strategies to teach soil health in an innovative way. You’ll also join a community of teachers dedicated to transforming STEM education for a sustainable future. A digital certificate will be offered upon successful completion.
