For ten years, I had the privilege of developing and coordinating a citizen science project on climate change effects on the growing season. We documented dates of leaf-out, autumn leaves, flowering time etc. in a standardised and similar way that had been done historically all over Sweden. After that I moved to my original profession as a maths teacher in secondary school.
With my background as both a researcher and school teacher, I now work at Public and Science Sweden to develop our activities towards pupils and teachers as well as on citizen science. As a researcher, I will also work on the studies and investigations performed by Public and Science Sweden.
I have a PhD in Plant Ecology from Stockholm University, where I specialised in evolutionary questions about timing in nature (phenology). This was then developed to include climate change effects on Nature’s Calendar, which I studied both as a researcher and as a coordinator of the citizen science-based environmental monitoring at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. I also have a degree in teaching chemistry, maths, and physics.
