Public & Science Sweden is a non-profit association and expert organisation for increased dialogue and co-creation around research. We believe that dialogue is a cornerstone of our democratic society, and a necessity for research and knowledge to be developed, used and reach the right stakholders and society in the right situations.

Public & Science was founded in 2002 as a response to the public debate about biotechnology and the growing need for a civil society organisation to promote constructive dialogue between science and society.
Today, the association consists of approximately 100 member organisations, from government agencies, colleges and universities to companies, public education organisations, science centres, museums, youth organisations and research funders.

Main goals and target groups
- To ensure that the public understands what science is, how research works, and its role in society.
- Researchers to have knowledge of attitudes to science, access to different communication methods and incentives for undertaking dialogue and collaboration.
- Decision-makers to make use of science and recognise the value of dialogue between researchers and other parts of society.
Strategies for achieving these goals:
Public & Science Sweden works in an evidence-based way, guided by the needs of our members. We also test new formats and methods, develop and share knowledge, and provide an open arena for communication and co-creation at the interface between research and society.
Our work takes place in four areas
- Studies, attitude surveys and evaluations
- Activities in new formats for public engagement, dialogue and co-creation
- Communication of our own and others’ knowledge and experiences
- Advocacy work at national and European level

Public & Science Sweden internationally
Public & Science is located in Stockholm, but the association is present throughout the country thanks to our member organisations. We are also an international partner in several European projects, as well as in several Nordic and European networks consisting of researchers, universities and organisations at the interface between science and society. We are an outward-looking organisation engaged in projects with many International partners and organisations. Read more about the experience and expertise that we can bring to partnerships.
