SUMMARY:Future of Science Communication Conference
DESCRIPTION:\n[va-article-start]\n\n\n\nThe Future of Science Communication
Conference brings together European actors from research and practice of
science communication. The conference will take place online on 24-25 June
2021. It is co-organised by Wissenschaft im Dialog\, the organisation for
science communication in Germany\, and ALLEA\, the European Federation of
Academies of Sciences and Humanities. VA (Public &amp\; Science) will be
presenting two sessions at the conference.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe programme fe
atures key notes\, panel debates\, workshops and poster sessions. Registra
tion is free.\n\n\n\nVA (Public &amp\; Science)'s contributions to the con
 ference:\n\n\n\nFriday 25 June\n\n\n\n9:00 - 9:30 CET&nbsp\; Keynote 'Pers
pectives from SciComm Practice'\n\n\n\nCissi Askwall\, Secretary General o
 f Vetenskap &amp\; Allmänhet and President of EUSEA\n\n\n\n9:45 - 11:00 C
ET&nbsp\; Workshop 'Engaging the public in science through dialogue and co
-creation -&nbsp\; inspiring examples from across Europe' (ORION Open Scie
nce)\n\n\n\nGlobal societal challenges together with growing public intere
st in science present both opportunities as well challenges for the resear
ch world. Open Science is a way to ensure that citizens are involved in re
search\, and that the views of different stakeholders are taken into consi
deration when shaping science agendas and research projects. But putting t
his into practice is not always as easy as it might appear in theory. So h
ow can science communication practitioners\, researchers\, policy makers a
nd research funding bodies successfully engage with the public\, and ensur
e that their values and interests are taken into account?\n\n\n\nThis sess
ion will showcase a range of innovative methods and activities for engagin
g the public in science that have been developed and tested as part of the
EU ORION Open Science project. Examples include co-creation formats and m
ethodologies\, citizen science approaches\, art collaborations\, public an
d multi-stakeholder dialogues as well as gamification. Participants will b
e invited to select between two themes to dive more deeply into the method
ologies and learnings in conversation with those behind the activities.\n\
